Whether you are fighting a cold or flu, or trying to melt away unsightly cellulite, your lymph system is a key defensive and offensive player. When functioning properly the lymph system effectively cleanses the tissues, aids in cellular repair, and eliminates toxins. If your lymph system becomes blocked, your infection-fighters cannot get to and destroy harmful invaders and your cells cannot exchange nourishment with your bloodstream. As a result, your blood loses needed protein, your immune system falters, and you become defenseless against attacks by viruses, fungi, and bacteria. How Does a Healthy Lymph System Function? Your lymph fluid originates as plasma, which is the fluid portion of blood. The blood that flows out of your heart slows as it moves through your body toward the capillaries (small blood vessels that feed individual cells). This slowing allows some plasma to leave the capillaries and flow into the tissues (cells) where it delivers nutrients, oxygen, and hormones. As this fluid leaves the cells, it takes with it cellular waste products and protein. About 90 percent of this tissue fluid flows into the veins. Here it enters the venous circulation as plasma and continues in the circulatory system. The remaining 10 percent of the fluid is left behind and becomes lymph fluid. How Does the Body Clean the Lymph? While the blood is filtered by the kidneys, the lymph, as it travels through the body, passes through 600 to 700 pea-sized lymph nodes. These nodes filter the lymph before it can be returned to the circulatory system. At the base of the neck, the lymph enters the subclavian veins and once again becomes plasma in the bloodstream. What Are the Causes Of Lymphatic Congestion? Causes include poor lifestyle such as inactivity and improper diet, infections, injuries, surgery (scar tissue and adhesions), emotional stress, environmental toxins, hormone imbalance, and the normal aging processes. Lymphatic congestion can contribute to a wide range of dysfunctions. What Are the Symptoms Of Lymphatic Congestion? Symptoms of lymphatic congestion include weight gain, premature aging, skin rash, facial edema, dark circles at/around the eyes, dry, wrinkled or sallow looking skin, spider veins, and cellulite. If you are experiencing symptoms of lymph congestion and are considering a LipoLaser® sculpting session, a lymph drainage session prior to your LipoLaser sculpting session could greatly enhance your well-being as well as your session results. What Are the Benefits Of a Lymph Drainage Session Lymphatic drainage works by helping to rebalance the charge of the electromagnetic field of the cells, helping them to separate from each other and from accumulated fluids. Instruments such as the Lymphstar® Pro are up to eight times faster at relieving congestion than manual therapy. The result is accelerated detoxification of tissues, greatly enhancing the effectiveness of the LipoLaser session, which relies on lymph drainage to eliminate the liquefied fat. Other benefits include accelerated healing of swollen lymph nodes, injuries and burns, minimization of scars, reduction of stubborn cellulite areas around the hips and thighs, and removal from the body of unnatural food additives, including steroids, that mimic hormones and attach to proteins. |
