Permanent Make-up

Permanent make-up, or tattooing of the face, is a cosmetic technique which employs tattoos (permanent pigmentation of the dermis) as a means of producing designs that resemble makeup, such as eyelining and other permanent enhancing colors to the skin of the face, lips, and eyelids. It is also used to produce artificial eyebrows, particularly in people who have lost them as a consequence of old age, disease, such as alopecia, chemotherapy, or a genetic disturbance, and to disguise scars and white spots in the skin such as in vitiligo.

Permanent make-up is beneficial for people who:

•    Are active and wish to save time

•    Have allergies to make-up

•    Are physically incapable of applying make-up

•    Wish to be freed from the burden of applying make-up

•    Have alopecia or simply, hair loss

Permanent make-up results in enhanced features of the face – definition is rendered to eyebrows, eyes and lips by the use of colors. Results can imitate topically applied cosmetics or can be quite unnoticeable, depending upon the design, color value and amount of pigment use.

Properly defined eyebrows change the illusion of your entire facial shape. Eyebrows can reflect your personality – strong, soft or sexy. Eyebrows enhanced by permanent make-up can look absolutely natural; the tattooing is done by hand and each hair stroke is placed individually. This mimics the appearance of natural hair in the brow. Shading can be combined with this technique to achieve a more natural look. This method adds style and definition to sparse, half-formed eyebrows, or to eyebrows with no hair at all.

Upper and lower eyeliner adds depth and definition to the eyes. The pigment is added just above the lashes line on the top lid and added below the lashes on the bottom lid. This eyeliner procedure creates a smooth and flawless line.

The permanent lip liner procedure adds definition to the lips. It can bring the natural color and shape you once had. Lip liner can also correct to help you to create the shape you had always wanted. It can also help prevent lipstick from bleeding.

At first, permanent make-up results may look harsh. This is due to color remaining in the outermost epidermal layers of skin at the start. Color softens within a few days during the healing process as the upper layers of epidermis slough and are replaced by new epidermal cells.

If you have previously had a bad experience with permanent make-up tattooing, correction is available. If substandard inks were applied they may have faded into an unattractive and unnatural reddish or bluish shade. Make sure your permanent make-up professional utilizes colors that are complimentary to your hair/skin tone color palette and that the inks are of the highest quality.

If you feel permanent make-up may be the right choice for you, consult with an experienced permanent make-up professional.
