Advanced Micro-Needling Beautiful Results For All Skin Tones

What is Collagen PIN Micro-Needling?

The collagen percutaneous induction needling (PIN) system is a breakthrough treatment in skin resurfacing. It is based on the use of rapidly vibrating tiny needles to create micro-channels in the skin, a process that stimulates your skin's natural ability to heal itself without the use of chemicals or surgery. The small channels in the epidermis close very quickly and the skin's healing process increases production of collagen and elastin, two proteins that are essential in keeping the skin soft, resilient, and toned. Additionally, while the micro-channels are open during the treatment, therapeutic creams and serums can be absorbed deep into the skin.

Micro-needling is commonly used to rejuvenate overall skin tone and texture, and to treat acne scarring, other face and body scars, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, and pigmentation resulting from sun damage and aging. The most frequent requested areas for micro-needling treatment are the face, neck, chest, and arms.

Why has Micro-Needling become so popular?

Micro-needling relies on a natural biological process and can be safely used on all skin tones. This is especially important for people with darker skin, who are at greater risk for burning and skin discoloration.

Additionally, the cost for micro-needling treatments is reasonable, no special preparation is required, and there is no post-treatment downtime.

What can I expect from a Collagen PIN procedure?

A numbing cream will be applied, followed by a cleansing and application of hyaluronic acid (or other therapeutic) serum. Then, the collagen pen with tiny vibrating needles will be passed over your treatment area for a total of 10-15 minutes. Once the procedure is complete, the serum will be reapplied. For several hours following the procedure, your skin will look and feel as though you have a mild sunburn. You may begin wearing makeup on the treatment area the following day; mineral based foundation is recommended for the first week because it prevents bacterial growth.

Do the treatments hurt?

This is an excellent question. With the numbing cream, most patients report little to no sensation during the procedure. Some describe feeling as though a cat's tongue is moving over their skin.

How is the Collagen PIN different from dermal rollers?

The collagen PIN system has several important technological advances. The pen used in the procedure is designed to allow the clinician to adjust the needle penetration depth throughout the procedure. This is important because skin thickness varies widely in different areas of the face and body. Additionally, the needles are used for only a single treatment, which means that they are sterile and sharp. Finally, the small area of the needling surface, its vertical action, and the rapid vibration allow for great precision and minimal damage to the epidermis.
