You can add flavors to your hot water, such as ginger, fresh lemon, fresh mint leaves, etc.

Make lunch not breakfast the most important meal of your day. The timing of your meals is crucial. According to Ayurveda, you should eat your largest meal between 11am 2pm.

This is the time when your digestive fire is the strongest. Your dinner should be very light and easily digestible. Have your dinner two-three hours before going to bed. This will allow your stomach to empty itself before you go to sleep and allows the natural detoxification processes that happens overnight.

Sleep Is Vital

The quality and amount of sleep have a tremendous impact on almost every system of your body and is a major contributing factor in weight gain. It is vital to connect with the natural light/dark cycles, the circadian rhythms. Not only is sleeping enough, but sleeping in rhythm with the sun is as vital.

According to Ayurveda, the best time to sleep is from 10pm to 6am. It provides a deeper and nourishing sleep. In addition, turn off your cell phone, computer and TV an hour before your bedtimeas itblocks the adequate production of melatonin for healthy sleep cycles.

Detox Your Mind

Stress hormones are one of the main causes of weight gain, especially abdominal weight. Mind/body practices like yoga and meditation bring down the level of stress and anxiety.

Meditation puts us in a more mindful and present state of mind, allowing us to be calm and peaceful as our day proceeds. Find fifteen minutes of peace and relaxation in the morning.
