Sculptra Butt Lift

Sculptra Butt Lift

Celebrities and social media have brought great attention to buttock aesthetics, fueling the demand for a more generous and shapely derrire, but unfortunately efforts to change the size and shape through diet and exercise can prove difficult and frustrating.

Plastic surgery traditionally has offered three techniques to improve buttock shape and/or augment size gluteal implants, buttock lifts, and fat grafting, often referred to as a Brazilian butt lift (BBL). For a variety of reasons, including infection, malposition, and hardening, augmentation with implants has lost popularity. Formal buttock lifts have never enjoyed great popularity, because of concerns of considerable scarring. But the number of Brazilian butt lifts has surged, as the procedure can produce dramatic changes by harvesting and transferring fat from areas of excess to volumize and shape the buttocks.

But BBL is not for everyone. It is a significant surgical procedure that requires hours under a general anesthetic and demands significant post-operative downtime. Furthermore, not everyone is a candidate, as lean patients may not have sufficient fat.

Fortunately, the Sculptra butt lift is a now an option to enhance buttock aesthetics. Note that it is not an exact substitute for BBL as it does not volumize the buttock as dramatically. But a Sculptra butt lift may be a more effective approach for many patients to achieve their goals. By stimulating collagen growth, Sculptra produces a rounder, proportioned, and contoured buttock. The results, while gradual, are more subtle and natural.

There are many attractive features to this approach

It is ideal for patients who want a subtle lift, some contour, and modest volume increase

Great for patients reluctant to consider surgery

Requires only topical anesthesia

Short procedure employing an injection technique devised to optimize patient comfort

Limited recovery time

Applicable for lean patients who are not traditional candidates for BBL

Ideal for patients who want a long-term result, but not a permanent change

Sculptra can subtly lift and add volume to create a more defined butt. The product is made from poly-L-lactic acid and stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen, and it has been used for cosmetic facial enhancements for a decade.

Most patients require a minimum of 2-3 sessions, at 4-6 week intervals, and some patients may require more treatments if they desire greater enhancement. Patience is encouraged as results take 2-3 months to mature, and they may last up to two years. It may also e possible to combine treatments with the use of PRP or other energy modalities to tighten skin.
