Beauty, Skincare, and Gorgeous Smiles

Beauty radiates from the inside out. Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet full of fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and lean proteins to give your skin the best nutrients possible. Ensure you get beauty sleep! Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night so your body can feel rejuvenated and your skin will appear refreshed.

If you smoke, talk to your doctor about ways to stop; in addition to increasing risk for heart and lung disease and stroke, smoking can dull the skin and lead to premature lines and wrinkles.

Sunscreens and moisturizers are some of the best products to slow the signs of aging. UV rays and tanning can be harmful to the skin and accelerate the development of wrinkles, so it is important to protect your skin from the sun. Wear moisturizers with sunscreen daily. The best sunscreens are broad-spectrum, water-resistant, and SPF 30 or greater.  Ensure that your products are non-comedogenic, which means they do not clog pores or cause acne. Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours when outdoors. If wearing makeup, powder sunscreens can be useful to touch up during the day.

Skin becomes drier as we age. Moisturizers can help trap water in the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; it can also help your skin appear brighter and more refreshed. Apply moisturizer and creams immediately after bathing to help lock the moisture in your skin and restore the skin’s natural barrier.

If you incorporate new products into your routine, introduce one product at a time. Using too many new products at the same time can irritate the skin.

Your dermatologist can help create or tailor a beauty and skincare routine that is right for you.
