Laser Kinesiology and Inflammation

So many diseases, including fibromyalgia, heart disease, depression, cancer, Alzheimer’s, and all autoimmune diseases (lupus, rheumatoid arthritis) occur over time and are very slow to present themselves.

In the chiropractic profession we see mostly acute and chronic neuromuscular skeletal illnesses. Predominately headaches, neck and back pain as well as extremity conditions. Upper extremity problems occur in the shoulder, arm and hand. Lower extremity problems include pelvic, sacroiliac, hip, knee, ankle and foot pain.

We are all subject to daily stresses and strains. When patients come into the office we gather a lot of information by having a detailed conversation about how a patient’s symptoms initially occurred, as well as the progression of the illness.

In chronic inflammation the immune system is always being drained and when it is over-activated to deal with pain on a daily basis, day after day, week after week, it loses its ability to produce immune factors to stop inflammation. Other contributing factors are a pro-inflammatory diet, chemical toxins that we are exposed to in our foods, the water we drink, and the air we breathe.

Chronically inflamed tissues produce compounds called pro-inflammatory cytokines, which contribute to increased pain and tissue damage. Cold laser therapy is one technique that has the capability to fight excess inflammation by increasing anti-inflammatory cytokines just through light energy (photo modulation).

This works throughout the body, and the laser light stimulates the production of the anti-inflammatory cytokines. They travel in the blood stream that circulates the brain and spinal cord, as well as the organs and joints, muscles and ligaments.

So the Erchonia cold laser is used in a neuromuscular format with these conditions. For example, in a clinical presentation of rotator cuff tendinitis, and performing a functional kinesiological examination of the entire upper extremity, an astute clinician has the ability to determine whether the shoulder problem is local or if it involves a more systemic problem that includes the neurology from the cervical spine. The same application is made for the lumbar spine and the lower extremities.

The clinical use of the cold laser is extremely fast and permanent reducing pain and inflammation and restoring proper pain free function to the area of application.
