Common Myths About Neck Lift Surgery

Myth #1: You Can Only Improve The Neck With A Facelift

There are several options to enhance the appearance of your neck and improve the age of your face. These include non-invasive in-office treatments, such as Botox into tight vertical bands, neck lifts via liposuction with tiny, hidden incisions and extended neck lift with incisions concealed in front and behind the ear.

Myth #2: Neck Lifts Are Only For Older People

Younger patients who seek a neck lift usually have excess fat in the neck that liposuction alone can address. After age 40, vertical bands in the neck usually require tightening via a small incision under the chin. This tightening, coupled with liposuction, can dramatically change the neck contour.

Beyond age 50, loose skin plays a larger role and a neck lift may require removing skin from in front and behind the ear.

Waiting past the age 60 may require a combination neck lift with facelift. Don’t feel like you have to look “older” to enjoy a youthful looking neck.

Myth #3: My Weak Chin Will Never Allow My Neck To Look Defined

At any age, a weak chin may make the neck look like it has less contour and definition. A chin implant in combination with any neck procedures can dramatically improve neck contour. Three out of the five patients shown had chin implants placed.

Myth #4: A Neck Lift Will Keep Me Out Of Work For Weeks

All types of neck lift procedures are performed as outpatient surgery. Recovery time is about 3-7 days depending on the procedure.
