Recognizing Blessings and Yoga

Blessings are abundant, plentiful and bountiful not always capable or even required to be counted. When we learn to recognize our blessings we will realize not everyones blessings are the same, and at that time we come to the full understanding that our blessings are countless.

Therefore the old adage, “Count Your Blessings” is a way to get us to recognize and acknowledge our true individual blessings. Ask the question, what does the word blessings mean to you?

For many people our blessing is the simple things in life, a place to sleep, food to eat, health, wealth, a job. Or you may be recovering from an illness, accident, divorce from a spouse (for some people that is truly a blessing), or recovering from an addiction, or anything that has enlightened you and has enabled you to pass the blessing on.

When someone has blessed you, pass it on. One blessing opens up the door for many more blessings. Blessing is truly countless. So many of us get caught up in what we don’t have, we complain about everything and everybody.

We think that we are the only ones going through some trials and tribulations. We all have our share of discomfort. However, when we realize just how blessed we are, we let go of all the small stuff too. It is said that through yoga and meditation we bring balance in the brain by activating the left side as well as the right side of the brain. It is said that the right side of the brain is our creative side and the left side is our logical side.

Therefore, if we have blocked passageways due to sinus congestion and we are breathing through one nostril, whichever is blocked we are breathing into the opposite side. When both nostrils are open and we are breathing in rhythm, we can maintain mental and emotional balance by allowing ourselves to become aware of whom we really are. When we consciously realize the state of our minds, we begin to let go of the chatter that is telling us we are not blessed, that we are sick or unhappy. As we begin to inhale and exhale and let go and let God, then and only then, we can realize that it is clear to see it is virtually impossible. Sat Nam.
