New Lens Provides Permanent Vision Correction

For many patients seeking to improve their vision there are many options available and one of them is called Visian ICL (implantable collamer lens) which is used to treat nearsightedness. If you would like to have permanent vision correction, this may be the choice for you. This may be the right choice for patients whose eyes are too dry, or their prescription is too high for other well-known vision correction procedures.

Visian ICL is composed of 100% biocompatible collagen copolymer, that provides not only UV protection and permanent vision correction, but also a quality of vision that is sharper, clearer, and more vivid than that what one can achieve with glasses or contacts.

Visian ICL is a soft, flexible lens that is placed in the eye to correct a person’s vision, and reduce dependency on glasses or contact lenses. While traditional contact lenses go on the surface of the eye, the Visian ICL is positioned in the eye between the iris (the colored part of the eye) and the natural lens.

One of the important advantages is that while it can permanently correct your vision, the lens can be simply removed and/or replaced if necessary. All of these benefits without the need for lasers. It is a great option for people who have a very high prescription, thin cornea, dry eye syndrome or someone who doesn’t want to have surgery. Plus, Visian ICL maintains the eye’s natural chemistry and will not cause dry eye syndrome.

The procedure takes 20-30 minutes and is done as an outpatient procedure, which means you will go home shortly after the procedure. Visian ICL also provides excellent night vision, permanent implant (but can be removed if desired) and provides UV protection to protect the retina from sun damage.

Because Visian ICL is a minimally invasive procedure, many patients notice improved vision almost immediately. It is FDA approved and clinical studies have found high levels of patient satisfaction. To date more than 400,000 Visian ICLs have been implanted in patients worldwide.

A good candidate for Visian ICL is between the ages of 21 to 45 years old, who has not had a significant change in prescription within a year and has minor or no astigmatism, and are nearsighted with mild to severe myopia.
