Positive Thinking Can Meditation Help Cure Cancer?

Speaking from experience, no matter how strong you are, how tough you want to be, there is no worse feeling than when you are told by your medical practitioner that you have cancer. Yes, cancer. Your soul drops into this deep hole; how to tell the family; you never smoked, hardly drank, you kept an average exercise routine, you were feeling pretty good when you first walked into your routine appointment, and now your mad, stressed, anxiety building, and you sit speechless staring at your doctor.

The surgeries and recovery time can be long and painful. Patients are often totally dependent on prescription drugs and opioids, which can lead to a battle with opioid addition.

Cancer is no stranger to the list of common health concerns present in today's society. The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER), estimated that in 2018 17,290 new cases have been registered in the U.S. This is a challenge that most of us may have to face during our lifetime.

However, how we choose to treat this disease is changing for many around the globe, as the rise in alternative therapies shed new hope for a natural approach to curing the dreaded C.

As a two-time cancer survivor, medical treatment was a big factor in my cure of this disease, but I know and can attest that finding my way to meditation, not only played a great part in my recovery, it also gave me hope, and strength to take the time to focus on my health, and my inner-self, and I have been cancer free for 14 years. My outlook on life, making time to cure and help myself through mediation and Tai Chi brought me balance, better concentration, a reduction in stress, anxiety and depression that I endured for a long time.

Now for the first time several studies from Harvard Medical, and the University of Calgary have shown that meditation can alter cancer cells. In one research study, individuals who participated in mediation for at least one hour daily for a 90-day period experienced a significant reduction of stress, anxiety, depression, and felt better mentally evidence that meditation can also influence key aspects of our biology. This is a huge first step towards understanding more about how meditation and support groups can affect us on a cellular level. Canadian researchers found the first evidence to suggest that support groups that encourage and participate in meditation resulted in the actual altering of the cellular activity of cancer survivors.

We have come a long way in advancement of cancer treatment. As the science of alternative therapies continue to surface there is no denying that cancer sufferers throughout the world are feeling the incredible benefits that the practice of meditation has to offer.

If at the very least it can help patients feel more positive and optimistic, than that in itself is something to be celebrated. Together lets focus on wellness.
