The Latest In Fat Removal and Body Contouring

It’s no surprise that the desire to remove unwanted fat deposits (you may call them love handles, saddle bags, etc.) has led to new technologies and procedures that can do this effectively. Liposuction may still be the most effective procedure to remove such deposits, however the risks and costs associated with surgery often deter patients from this method.

Today, many people look to non-invasive procedures that offer similar fat reduction benefits with a lot less downtime and side effects. There are many procedures like this available in the market, and we’ll discuss one example in this article. It is known as Cryoskin, and has shown promising results.

Cryoskin uses the science behind cryotherapy, or the treatment of the body using cold temperatures. Treatments are performed using the Cryoskin machine manufactured in Paris with a focus on non-invasive treatments for slimming, cellulite reduction, and toning.

CryoSlimming: The Cryoskin machine is capable of causing thermal shock due to its ability to alternate rapidly between periods of skin warming and cooling. First the heat is applied for two minutes on the treatment area. Heating allows for the fat cells to rise to the surface which are then quickly targeted during the 12 minute cold treatment of each area.

CryoToning: The CryoToning treatment only uses cold temperatures – the cold creates vasodilation in the treated area. This increases the production of collagen which helps to break down cellulite. Note that cellulite may return if there are no changes in diet or exercise.

Cryoskin Facial: The cold temperature causes vasodilation in the blood vessels (widening of the blood vessel) in the face. This extra blood flow helps collagen production reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It also reduces pore size and improves the elasticity of the skin.

The Benefits

It’s easy to explain the benefits. First of all, it’s non-invasive and uses science that works with your body’s natural systems. There’s little to no discomfort, and many patients report the treatment to be comfortable – even relaxing. Sessions are typically 20-30 minutes, and it doesn’t require any recovery time.

How Long Does It Take
To See Results?

Results are seen immediately, but it is recommended to treat specific areas between 3 – 6 times for best results. Afterwards, the treatments can last for years, but it is recommended to schedule 1-2 treatments every 6 months while maintaining a healthy diet and exercise.

The Science Behind the Technology

The treatments are powered by cryolipolysis – a medical treatment used to destroy fat cells by freezing within the temperature range of +5 to -5 ˚C.  A 2015 study published in Aesthetic Surgery Journal found that “In cryolipolysis, fat cells are preferentially destroyed by a controlled thermal reduction. Exposure to below normal, but above freezing, temperatures induces apoptosis-mediated cell death. The adipocytes are more sensitive to the cooling process than other cells, resulting in minimal collateral damage to surrounding tissues.”
