Why Replace Missing Teeth?

It is estimated that nearly 200 million people in the U.S. are missing one or more teeth, and over 35 million Americans have no teeth. Tooth loss happens as a result of decay, gum disease, injury, cancer or simple wear.

If you are missing one or more teeth, you may be all too aware of their importance to your looks and overall health.

Your teeth are designed to work together to help you chew, speak and smile. When teeth are missing, it can be difficult to do these things.

Tooth loss has been linked to poor nutrition and speech problems. In addition, there are studies that show that people with missing teeth often suffer more illnesses and have shortened life expectancy.

Missing teeth can cause jawbone deterioration and result in collapse of facial structure, lip support, sunken cheeks and wrinkles. These changes in appearance lead to people with missing teeth to face stigma and to suffer psychological problems such as depression and anxiety.

Studies also show that missing teeth prevent otherwise qualified candidates from getting jobs or promotions.

Dental Implants

While many options exist to replace missing teeth, such as dentures and bridges, only dental implants provides thefeel, function and appearance of natural teeth.

Unlike dentures, dental implants are permanent and non-removable, and they can be used to replace one tooth, multiple teeth, or all of your natural teeth, depending on your specific needs.

Dental implants consist of an artificial tooth root that is implanted into the jawbone, where it serves as an anchor for realistic-looking teeth that are specially made to match the shape and color of your natural teeth.

Once missing teeth are replaced with implants, patients are able to eat normally and recover their facial structure and ability to smile. Dental implants also reduce bone loss and help protect remaining teeth.

With an overall success rate upwards of 99% and almost 50 years of clinical research to back them up, dental implants are frequently the best treatment option for replacing missing teeth. In addition, many studies have found that with good care, many implants last a lifetime.
