Dance Your Way To a New You

Whether you've been a dancer since grade school or you're new to the art form, dancing is a great thing to add to your list of New Year's Resolutions.

Taking a dance class will engage your mind and body in new ways. You'll focus on developing coordination and rhythm, regardless of the style of dance. Additionally, you'll build your endurance and stamina for when the instructor shouts, “One more time with feeling!”

Unlock your creativity. If you're in need of a creative outlet, a dance class could be just what you need. Classes focus on warming up the body, moving across the floor and learning a combination in the style of dance. You'll be inspired to make the movement your own and release your inner artist.

Try new things. Get a fresh start to the new year by trying something different. If you've never taken a dance class, don't shy away. Dance studios with adult classes usually have beginner levels to engage everyone with a passion for dancing out of their comfort zones.

Grab a friend and hit the barre (the kind with a ballet instructor). You're more likely to stick to a new routine when you've got a partner in crime holding you accountable. Whether it's social ballroom dancing or a classical ballet class, you'll both be maintaining your New Year's resolutions to be more active.

Shake off those extra holiday pounds by learning a new dance move or two. Not only will you be burning calories, but your endorphins will have you wanting to come back to class again and again.

Make a New Year's resolution to dance more often, this year and every year.
