Hypnosis To Find Out: What Are You Truly Hungry For?

What are you truly hungry for? What if it isn’t food? Then why do we overeat or eat when we aren’t hungry, or eat compulsively? Food and eating can serve many purposes, not always, unfortunately, having to do with hunger and survival. For instance, we eat to deal with negative thoughts and beliefs about ourselves, our weight and our bodies. Feelings of anxiety, depression, shame are hard to deal with, and many people learn to stuff feelings down and numb themselves with food. Food can also seem like a friend, — our favorite unhealthy treats are easily available, and do not disappoint us, unlike relationships that do sometimes. Perfectionism (“I slipped up so I have to give up,” and “I have to weigh X or I cannot be happy”) and procrastination (“I will take care of my health later, right now I need a treat”) can block and sabotage our positive goals for well-being and self-esteem.

What is hypnosis and how is it used for eating and weight? First of all, hypnosis is really self-hypnosis. You can only be hypnotized if you want to be. Hypnosis can help problematic behaviors and thoughts in several ways. Hypnosis helps us relax, helps us to adopt new positive thoughts and beliefs, and can also be used to get to the source of a problem.
